Star Field

Enables you to have a star rating field in your publish screen.

Star Field 

The template tag of the fields using this plugin currently outputs a simple numeric value. If you have five stars each splitted to two parts. If you click on the second part of the fifth star the tag will return 10. If you click on the first part of the fifth star the tag will return 9 and so on.

NOTICE

This field type makes use of Star Rating Widget v3.0.

Installation

For the field type to work flawlessly, you need to follow all the steps carefully.

  1. Download The Field Type You can download this field type from the DOWNLOAD section of this document.

  2. Unpack Unpack the compressed file that you have downloaded.

  3. Upload Files to Your Server
    Once you have unpacked your compressed file, you will see a folder named bbr_ckeditor. 

    Upload the folder into your Expression Engine 2.x\‘s system/expressionengine/third_party folder.

  4. Install Field Type Login to your Expression Engine 2.x. control panel and go to Add-ons > Fieldtypes. 

    You will see Star Field in the fieldtypes list. Click on Install link. 

  5. Setup Your Field Currently there is no global settings for this field type. However; you need to setup the individual settings when you create a new field using this field type.

    Field Type Individual Settings 

    Currently there are two custom settings.

    Number of Stars:

    Here you can set the number of stars you want to see in publish screen. You can define 2 to 10 stars.

    Number of Splits:

    Here you can set the number of divisions each star will have. If you select 2 for each star you will have two sections to select from. You can have 1 to 5 divisions.

Uninstallation

In order uninstall the field type login to your Expression Engine 2.x. control panel and go to Add-ons > Fieldtypes.  Clieck on Uninstall link for Star Field.

After you uninstall the software from EE 2.x control panel, you can safely delete the bbr_starfield folder located in your EE\‘s third_party folder.

Usage

{fieldname display=“stars”} returns the HTML code which shows the rating with the default star image.
{fieldname display=“stars” img=“pathtoyourimagefile”} returns the HTML code with your selected image.
